For those history buffs who appreciate the early days of Las Vegas, a stay at the Flamingo Hotel is a "must" on a trip to LV. This is where it all started, where Bugsy Siegel turned the desert into an oasis, starting what would become the modern hotel casino business. While it is an older casino, the location is excellent, on the corner of LV Boulevard and Flamingo, and the on-site amenities still make it a player as one of the oldest casinos on the Nevada landscape.
Entertainment is the staple of the Flamingo Casino Las Vegas and has been for years. Those who stay here are looking for a certain kind of old Vegas entertainment with permanent performers who are on stage almost every night. In the past it was LV legends like Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin, Nat "King" Cole and others. Here are what they offer today:
- Gladys Knight. Sure the Pips aren't there, but she is still rocking.
- George Wallace. A Vegas comedy staple for years.
- Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This is old time rock 'n' roll.
- The Second City . Sketch comedy that inspired SNL.
If you're looking for a brand new, young and hip casino, the Flamingo Resort Las Vegas probably isn't for you. It's more "old Vegas" than others, and usually more reasonable, though they have had some recent renovations. However, if you are going to spend your time in the casino, they have all the table games and slots the rest of the casinos have, and the Flamingo Las Vegas is a stop on the line for the new Las Vegas Monorail, which stops at seven spots up and down the Las Vegas strip.
