Sahara Las Vegas

Recent renovations have made the Sahara Las Vegas, one of the older casinos in Nevada , a viable option again for the out-of-town traveler looking to get good value for their room and a full LV experience. With rooms that run less than $50 a night, you can make the Sahara your base in Vegas, while being close enough to the rest of the strip to at least be able to move around a little bit thanks to the Las Vegas Monorail which recently opened and runs on the east side of the strip with seven stops up and down the area, including a stop at the Las Vegas Convention Center, making it much more accessible than the old taxi days.

While staying at the north end of the Las Vegas strip isn't ideal, the Sahara Hotel Las Vegas does have a few things going for it. While it used to be the last bastion of $1 blackjack in Clark County (for those like me who like to play, but don't like the risk), don't let that deter you. My favorite parts of the Sahara have nothing to do with the gambling.

The headline show at the Sahara Casino Las Vegas is one of Las Vegas ' hidden gems. The Amazing Johnathan is a magic act and a comedy act rolled into one, and he is a hoot--lots of audience participation, very funny, and a darn good magician. The other highlight of the Sahara Resort Las Vegas is the NASCAR Café , which is a cyber-speedway and Speed: the Ride , a surprisingly good roller coaster. The best value--buy an all-day pass for about $20 which gives you unlimited rides and NASCAR fun, which is about as much as two coaster rides.

The hotel itself is fairly ordinary, but they have very good amenities and prices to stay. For more, check out www.saharacasino.com , and try www.lasvegas.com or www.i4vegas.com for some comparison shopping.
